Congratulations to Nishad Mysore, medical student from NSU KPCOM in Davie, and a member of the BCOMA Board of Governors!

On Nov. 1, 2024, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued the CY2025 Medicare physician fee schedule final rule which includes updates to physician payment policies, the Medicare Shared Savings Program and the Quality Payment Program (QPP). Among the most notable changes, CMS has finalized a statutorily required 2.83% pay cut through a reduction to the Medicare fee schedule conversion factor.

The AOA is advocating with Congress to prevent this cut from taking effect and to enact comprehensive payment reform to ensure stability for physician practices. Notable changes addressed in the rule also include payment for telehealth services, the finalization of new advanced primary care management (APCM) codes and changes to policies related to billing of the G2211 office/outpatient evaluation/management (E/M) visit complexity add-on code.

The AOA has developed an initial one-pager with key takeaways and will continue to analyze the extensive rule to develop additional resources in the coming days.
